What You Can Expect: The Tumor Registrar Apprentice is a training position that trains the incumbent to work as a Certified Tumor Registrar and takes the Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) exam.
Learns all aspects of Registry operations and data collection to meet eligibility requirements to sit for CTR certification exam, per self-study and mentoring from department CTR's.
Learns processes and rationale for case finding, abstracting oncology cases and follow-up procedures to update cases.
Learns processes and rational for quality assurance practices for quality control of abstracted data.
Accepts responsibility for an 'alpha letter group' for case finding, abstracting and follow-up of those patient names.
Develops good understanding of all aspects of day-to-day operation of Registry, including Registry responsibility for several applicable standards supporting Commission on Cancer, cancer program accreditation.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Associates degree or experience in lieu of degree
Experience: 2 years relevant experience.
