Performs Diagnostic Radiographic examination following department protocol and utilizing technical factors to ensure the highest quality results. Head and neck studies, chest studies, spine and pelvis, upper extremity, lower extremity, abdomen, and pediatric studies. Produces copies of Radiographic images as needed. Follows Radiation safety procedures on all exams keeping them ALARA. Appropriately utilizes shields to reduce exposure to patients. Sets technical factors to reduce patient exposure and produce high-quality films. Uses sterile technique if required and follows standard precautions. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate with all the age groups we serve. Prepares patients for the exam by explaining the exam procedure in a kind, respectful manner. An interpreter will be utilized as needed. Demonstrates the ability to recognize age-related pathology and physical presentation when performing exams and choosing technical factors.
Education:
Graduate of the AMA Approved Radiologic Technology Training Program. Associate's degree is strongly desired. Clinical hours sufficient to sit for the ARRT Examination. Licensed by the state of Massachusetts in Radiography. CPR certified and has the ability to maintain this on an annual basis.
Experience:
1 – 3 years of experience in a high-volume environment performing diagnostic radiographic examinations. Good working knowledge in the field of Radiology. Ability to assimilate changes in technical Radiographic settings.
