Receive all referrals from outside referring physicians and reviews to direct as appropriate. Responsible for scheduling all clinic referrals by contacting patient and setting up clinic appt. Contact referring office if needed for further information. Communicate with referring physician office when patient has been scheduled or if we are unable to schedule patient. Interact with clinic staff and OA dept as needed when urgent appointments are needed with no available openings. Ensure patient is scheduled with appropriate provider. The Must Haves:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Previous medical office experience, medical terminology coursework preferred. Formal training with at least one (1) year experience as medical assistant, medical secretary, health unit coordinator, nursing assistant or similar role. In lieu of formal training has at least two (2) years experience involving patient care and is able to demonstrate a familiarity with medication names and purpose, a thorough understanding of basic medical terminology, basic knowledge of common diagnoses and surgeries, and patient health interviewing skills.
