Master's degree in Speech/Language Therapy Meet all Louisiana Department of Education certification requirements for school based speech-language pathologists Preferred Qualification: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with the identification of children with speech, language, and/or hearing problems that need rehabilitative speech, language, and or hearing therapy.
Provide guidance to teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech, language, and hearing impairments
Interpret diagnostic results. Write appropriate and accurate reports of results. Select appropriate form and informal testing instruments and procedures for screening speech and language skills of referred children. Conduct or participate in the evaluation and placement in programs and dismissal/exit out of programs for speech, language, and/or hearing impaired children in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education and district guidelines. Design and provide a therapeutic individualized education program (IEP) to meet the needs of children in accordance with state and district guidelines. Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff members to implement therapy procedures that will improve student performance in the classroom. Monitor ongoing performance of children and access progress at regular intervals and report process at designated times. Perform other job-related duties as required. Physical Demands: Light: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force frequently; involves frequent sitting.
Terms of Employment:Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel (Bulletin 130).
