An appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) as deemed necessary by https://www.nj.gov/education/certification/certsandtitles/https://www.nj.gov/education/certification/certsandtitles// Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Must be registered by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners as an Athletic Trainer Must hold and maintain CPR/AED certification for the Professional Rescuer Show evidence of successful experience in working with student-athletes

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides immediate care of athletic injuries and ensures the student-athletes follow-up with medical personnel or facility when necessary in accordance with district policies. Supervises and maintains the training room. Works cooperatively with the team physician and under his/her directions regarding rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes and physician/hospital referrals. Maintains accurate medical records for injuries, treatment and rehabilitation. Coordinates the report of athletic injuries and handling of medical insurance claims with the school nurse and Athletic Director. Assumes responsibility for the budgeting, purchasing, and inventorying of athletic training supplies. Works cooperatively with all coaches in selecting protective equipment. Develops and maintains an effective training program for student-athletes. Provides in-season and post- season conditioning programs and athletic trainer services at interscholastic athletic events and practice sessions as assigned including away football games. Provides for the prevention of injuries through the application of protective taping, wraps, and braces, and assists in the design of practices to help to reduce the incidence of injury. Designs and supervises rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes under the direction of a licensed referring physician. Maintains open communication with coaches, parents, and physicians regarding athletic injuries, treatment, and rehabilitation. Develops and implements a system of ongoing review of the effectiveness of the athletic program in preventing injury or illness. Supervises student assistants. Reports all serious injuries to the principal, school nurse, coach, and athletic director. Provides in-service training program for interested staff members on injury prevention and safety at least (2) times per year. Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the athletic director/principal.
