Positions and instructs patients in preparation for the application of radio nuclides using specialized equipment and procedures. Adjusts nuclear equipment to the correct setting for each examination as prescribed by the attending physician. Performs renal scans on pediatric population and handles emergency situations. Reviews the processing of nuclear studies. Performs routine Quality Assurance testing Orders radiological pharmaceuticals. Follows guidelines set forth by ACR and DOH. Prepares and maintains records and files of procedures. Troubleshoots equipment failure, makes repairs where possible Insures equipment is functioning properly on a continuous basis. Monitors the level of stock of supplies, as needed. Provides training and technical direction to lower level technologists and nurses in nuclear procedures and processes. Job Qualification
Vocational or Technical school Diploma required. Current License to practice as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in New York State, Current ARRT Nuclear registration, or Current CNMT registration required, plus specialized certifications as needed. 3-5 years of technical experience, required.
