Required qualifications:
Currently enrolled and active in an accredited nursing program Successful completion of the 1st and 2nd semesters of a nursing program Documentation from the accredited nursing program verifying the above Current BLS Certification
Preferred qualifications:
Plans to potentially seek employment at SJRMC as an RN upon successful completion of nursing program
Duties and responsibilities:
Provides individualized assistance with the activities of daily living appropriate for the area of practice Performs vital signs and reports abnormal findings as indicated Communicates pertinent patient information to the appropriate members of the healthcare team Understands and follows policy, procedure and regulatory requirements as outlined by SJRMC Builds productive interpersonal relationships in every encounter Demonstrates teamwork A Nurse Tech may perform additional tasks (excluding medication administration) under the direct supervision of a licensed RN Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC's Service Standards into their daily work: Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship Other duties as assigned
Physical demands and environmental work conditions:
Must be able to see with corrective eyewear and hear clearly with assistance Must be able to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist frequently Must be able to lift greater than fifty (50) pounds and push up to (300) pounds using approved hospital transport devices Potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids and meets OSHA training requirements
Special demands:
Sets limits when dealing with angry, hostile, or sometimes verbally or physically abusive patients and families in an attempt to ensure a safe, respectful environment that will support the delivery of care Effectively copes and strives for balance when caring for acutely ill patients and families
