Position Summary Job Description As a Temporary Histotechnologist, you will perform daily, routine, and specialized histology techniques and procedures. Additional responsibilities of the Histotechnologist include:
Preparing histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists Staining tissue specimens with dyes or other chemicals to make cell details visible under microscopes Cutting sections of tissues for microscopic examination using microtomes Mounting tissue specimens on glass slides Typing gross dictation if needed Special Stains Maintenance of laboratory equipment Volume per day will fluctuate 200+ specimens per day between 3 histotechs
Requirements
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology or related Life Sciences/Health Sciences degree 1-3 Years of experience working as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician in dermatopathology Must have recent dermatopathology experience Experience in embedding tissue, microtomy, H&E staining, labeling slides, filing slides, accessioning and grossing tissue Must be a team player and be able to work in a fast paced/busy environment Must be well-versed in computers and a quick learner
Desired/Not Required
ASCP NOT required but preferred. American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) preferably.
