Position Summary Join a dedicated team supporting mission-critical cybersecurity operations at the NIH! As a Junior Systems Engineer, you will play a vital role in analyzing, designing, and implementing complex systems that ensure the security and integrity of vital healthcare and research systems. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your expertise in a dynamic environment focused on continuous monitoring, incident response, and enterprise-level cybersecurity support in compliance with federal standards.

Responsibilities
Analyze user requirements, system architecture, and system specifications to support effective solutions.
Assist in designing, developing, integrating, and implementing complex hardware, software, and network components.
Support system modeling, simulation, and analysis activities to evaluate performance and integration.
Identify, diagnose, and resolve system issues across diverse domains such as networking, storage, and computing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the system lifecycle—from design and implementation to operation and maintenance.
Support risk assessments and propose strategies for risk mitigation to enhance system security and stability.
Ensure systems adhere to applicable standards and compliance requirements, including federal cybersecurity guidelines.
Qualifications and Requirements
Strong understanding of systems engineering concepts and principles.
Experience with system analysis, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
Familiarity with hardware, software, and network components within complex IT environments.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting and communicate technical information effectively.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking skills.
Basic knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.
Nice to Have (Not Required)
Experience with system modeling and simulation tools.
Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks such as FISMA, HHS, or DHS CISA guidelines.
Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Cisco CCNA.
Prior experience supporting enterprise-level cybersecurity operations.
