Our front-end speech recognition is used by doctors while entering patient data, speeding up documentation and creating time to care. We are in need of a software engineer/architect to be part of an agile team responsible for Android voice recognition applications. Specifically, the cross-platform mobile application- and SDK-layer software which interacts with our asynchronous interface to our neural network speech engine, involving: Audio collection and processing via microphone or mobile device Cloud voice recognition (streaming audio over the network and receiving text results) Network security and encryption (both at-rest and streaming) Recognition configuration (e.g., via grammars and other software settings) Post-recognition text processing (e.g., printing a spoken date in your chosen format) Presentation layer software Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: iOS and Android development Requirements gathering, implementation, and test implementation Providing input on code reviews Providing manual buddy testing for co-workers Grafting and merging tasks to support released software Periodic rotating in-house support duties (during business hours) Communicating any discovered defects in a clear and timely manner Working with customers to support integrating our SDK and to resolve any issues/bugs reported To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution OR High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start from an accredited institution and a minimum of ten (10) years of software development experience in lieu of a bachelors degree education requirement) Three (3) years of mobile development experience Experience with Objective-C and iOS with a willingness to learn Android or experience with Java and Android and willingness to learn iOS Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Experience with iOS (Objective C) Experience with Xamarin (C#) Experience with C++ (read-only) Experience with Kotlin Skills include working with others, clear written communication skills Creative, curious, friendly and flexible Able and willing to learn new technologies in short time Self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal instruction and supervision Able to work on multiple products at the same time and quickly switch context Interested in healthcare IT Critical thinking, reasoning and problem solving is what you are known for Minimal work direction needed, highly skilled and knowledgeable to the position and provides best practicing sharing within work group. Plans, designs, develops, codes and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products.
