Duration : 12 Months (Possibility of extension/conversion based on performance and budget) Client : One of the largest electricity retailer offering energy services to shops and apartments Overview : Under the direction of the Manager, System Protection Engineering and/or Sr. Manager TS Engineering, the engineer will perform engineering design related to electric substation, transmission line, and generation equipment control and fault protection systems. The role will collaborate closely with system protection engineers to develop protection and control (P&C) designs for assigned projects. Duties : Perform engineering design related to electric substations, transmission lines, and generation equipment control and protection systems to ensure reliability and safety. Specify substation equipment using appropriate substation ratings including bus, ground mat, conduit, switches, circuit breakers, transformers, relay panels, instrumentation, capacitor banks, and reactor banks. Design protective relay systems, metering, and SCADA systems in alignment with company standards, past projects, and regulatory requirements. Gather and analyze system ratings such as voltage, power ratings, ampacity, system impedance, CT ratios, and relay settings to meet system requirements and regulatory reporting (SPP, NERC, FERC). Develop detailed system protection and control project scopes and cost estimates for long-term project planning and budgeting. Support operations and construction teams with troubleshooting, failure analysis, misoperations, testing, commissioning, and other technical activities. Prepare and review technical drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Direct designers and technicians by reviewing work and monitoring progress to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Knowledge of electric power engineering principles and advanced mathematics. Understanding of schematic, wiring, and logic diagrams. Knowledge of generation, transmission, and distribution system relays and protection schemes. Ability to develop elementary drawings, relay logic, and protection system settings. Strong organizational, proofreading, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in standard office tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Preferred: Utility experience related to electric substation, transmission, and generation protection and control systems.
