Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country./ppSHIFT: Full-Time Days/ppHOURS: 0830-1730 varied days of the week, rotating weekend/ppThe Phlebotomist/Specimen Processor provides general laboratory services including specimen collection using routine venipuncture, order entry, blood component preparation, specimen receipt, waived testing, pre-analytic processing of specimens as well as related clerical tasks such as entering orders into the system, confirming validity of each specimen, answering phone calls, and managing faxes. The incumbent may be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens. The ideal incumbent will possess strong customer service skills, focus on attention to detail, have strong organizational skills, have basic computer skills, and be highly compassionate./pulliRequires HS grad or GED Equivalent./liliCompletion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical or related science preferred./liliMay require a valid Indiana Operators license and a good driving history for the last three years./liliMay require an understanding of the traffic laws in the State of Indiana./liliRequires proven understanding of computers./liliRequires telephone skills./liliRequires strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member./liliRequires ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time./liliMay serve on appropriate committees or projects that contribute to the overall purpose and essential functions of the department.
