Job Summary and Responsibilities
CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy is seeking a fellowship-trained Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join our high-volume, academic cardiovascular program in Omaha, Nebraska. This position offers the opportunity to practice at a Level I Trauma Center within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, with strong emphasis on clinical excellence, education, and program development .
This role is ideal for physicians seeking complex cardiac case exposure , academic involvement, and the ability to contribute to a growing residency program .
Practice within a care team model with 23 Anesthesiologists and 27 CRNAs
Work at a 391-bed, Level I Trauma Center with a high-acuity patient population
Support a growing cardiovascular program and structural heart program
Academic medical center with a newly approved Anesthesiology Residency Program launching 2026
EPIC EMR across the system
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide anesthetic care for a full spectrum of adult cardiac surgical procedures , including:
CABG and valve surgeries
Structural heart procedures (TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman, TriClip)
Complex aortic surgery
Robust ECMO program
Perform and interpret intraoperative TEE (advanced certification required)
Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, and critical care teams
Supervise and teach CRNAs, residents, and medical students in a team-based environment
This position offers the opportunity to maintain a highly specialized cardiac anesthesiology practice with exposure to advanced surgical procedures and high-acuity patients in a supportive academic environment .
Academic Appointment
Academic appointment with Creighton University School of Medicine
Active involvement in:
Resident education within a newly launched anesthesiology residency
Teaching medical students
Opportunity to help shape cardiac anesthesia education and curriculum within a new program
Participation in research, quality improvement, and program development
Opportunity to contribute to cardiac anesthesia fellowship development (if applicable/desired)

Job Requirements
MD or DO degree
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency
Fellowship training in Cardiac Anesthesiology
Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology
Advanced Perioperative TEE certification (or eligible)
Eligible for medical licensure in Nebraska
