Position Summary This full-time, on-site General Mill Manager role is based in Decatur, AL. The General Mill Manager is responsible for overseeing daily plant operations, facility financial reporting, and maintaining efficiency in business processes. The role involves heavy financial and accounting work, optimizing workflows, implementing operation improvements, and meeting with leadership to achieve facility goals. This position requires a results-driven leader who is committed to operational excellence and team development. Scope of facility: 120,000+ Sqft, 2 lines, 40-50 team members. Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations of Production, Maintenance, Shipping, Wearhouse, and Admin departments. Ensure operational continuity and efficiency across all areas. Monitor workflow, staffing, and operational performance from a financial perspective. Coordinate priorities between departments to maintain operational flow. Monitor operational expenses and departmental budgets. Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency. Manage the control of production costs, labor costs, overtime, freight expenses, and operational waste. Review and approve operational purchases within authorized limits. Prepare and execute budget reports for financial planning. Supervise operational staff and department supervisors. Hold team members accountable for performance and execution. Conduct operational meetings and follow-up on action items. Support employee development and operational training initiatives. Work alongside HR Manager regarding staffing, labor management, and performance issues. Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions. Create systems that improve accountability and reporting. Ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards. Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, OSHA, labor, and transportation regulations. Ensure proper documentation and operational recordkeeping. Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews. Coordinate and negotiate with vendors and service providers. Monitor supplier performance, pricing, and service levels. Ensure timely procurement of operational materials and services. Identify alternative vendors and cost-saving opportunities. Prepare weekly and monthly operational reports. Monitor KPIs related to operations, labor, costs, efficiency, and service. Provide management with operational analysis and recommendations. Maintain visibility over operational performance and departmental accountability. Reporting Cadence Weekly: Alabama Mill and Dade City (Fraga USA) Cash Flow Analysis: Delivered every Monday by 8am. Raw Material Inventory Report (Master Coils / Slit Coils / Fraga): Delivered every Friday by 4pm. Accounts Receivable Aging Report: Delivered every Friday by 4pm. Monthly: Alabama Mill Expense and Cost Budget Report (Budget vs Executed): Delivered first day of every month. Dade City Expense Budget Report (Budget vs Executed): Delivered first day of every month. Alabama Mill Production Plan with Production Rates for next month: Delivered last day of every month. Alabama Mill Production Close (Executed) for previous month: Delivered first day of every month. Alabama and Dade City Finished Goods and Slit Coils Inventory: Delivered first day of every month. Alabama Mill Profit and Loss Statement: Delivered by the 7th day of every month. Dade City Profit and Loss Statement: Delivered by the 7th day of every month. Slow-moving Inventory (30+ days unsold) Report with action plan: Delivered by the 15th day of every month Other Ad Hoc reports Senior Management may require. Qualifications Experience in Plant Management and Plant Operations Experience in accounting/finance Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in Operations Management and Production Planning Knowledge of Manufacturing Operations and process optimization Strong leadership and team management skills Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Valid driver's license and ability to travel to multiple sites as needed. Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Occasional work at the Dade City/Decatur AL distribution center for meetings, training, and coordination. Must be able to travel once a month, stand/walk during site visits, and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally. Standard business hours with flexibility based on business demands. Performance Measures Achievement of monthly and quarterly goals, contributing to overall revenue growth. Accuracy and timeliness of reporting, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
