Associate Patient Service Specialist
for a remote position based in Worcester, MA.
Schedule: Full‑time (40 hours per week), Monday‑Friday. Employees must be able to work any of the 8‑hour shift schedules during normal business hours (8:00 AM–5:00 PM) and may be required to work occasional overtime.
Primary Responsibilities
Verifies, re‑verifies, and authorizes patient insurance coverage and eligibility using a computer‑based registration/scheduling system.
Verifies and updates patient demographic, insurance, and other information.
Confirms, collects, and posts patient co‑payments and outstanding balances.
Addresses patient‑care related telephone calls via an incoming work queue in line with department metrics.
Identifies priority issues and responds to emergencies by contacting or interrupting physicians/providers within guidelines.
Provides patient education regarding managed care plans and referral processes.
Completes and maintains patient schedules; coordinates visits and procedures for inpatients and outpatients; communicates all scheduling details to patients.
Notifies providers, patients, and others of changes such as new scheduling, rescheduling, no‑shows, emergency appointments, and add‑ons.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
1+ year of customer service experience in a clinical setting.
1+ year of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
Ability to work full time (40 hours/week) Monday‑Friday; flexibility for the 8‑hour shifts outlined above.
Must live within a commutable distance to a Reliant location in the Worcester, MA area or surrounding areas.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Previous call center experience.
EPIC experience.
Telecommuting Requirements
Reside within commutable distance to the nearest Reliant location.
Maintain secure handling of company‑sensitive documents.
Provide a dedicated work area that is separate from other living areas and offers information privacy.
Live in a location with UHG‑approved high‑speed internet or an existing high‑speed internet service.

Pay is based on several factors, including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. The hourly range is $16.15 to $28.80 per hour for full‑time employment. We comply with all applicable minimum wage laws.
