divh2Dental Assistant/h2pJob Category: Patient Services Requisition Number: DENTA001049/ppFull-Time On-site Springfield, MA 01103, USA/ph3Description/h3pstrongPrinciple Responsibilities and Duties:/strong/polliAssists dentist during examination and treatment of patients./liliPrepares patients for dental procedures, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists dentists during dental procedures./liliTakes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients./liliPours and trims study casts./liliCleans and polishes removable appliances./liliAssists the dentist in the management of medical and dental emergencies./liliPrepares dental supply orders as necessary anticipating the needs of the clinic./liliKnowledgeable of dental office clinical equipment and individual maintenance/cleaning schedules for such equipment (autoclave, period-pro, various low and high-speed handpieces, etc.)./liliKeeps equipment service records on clinical dental equipment./liliProvides post-operative instructions prescribed by the dentist./liliRecords treatment information in patient records as directed by the dentist./liliMay be called on to help at the front desk with scanning, confirming appointments, scheduling appointments, preparing bills and receiving payments for dental services, completing insurance forms, and maintaining clerical records, manually or using a computer./liliActively participates in staff meetings./liliWorks as part of a team./liliPerform tasks as asked by the Dental Practice Manager to ensure that the Clinic is operating efficiently./li/olpIn addition to the above, the strongCertified Dental Assistant/strong may perform the following:/pulliOral prophylaxis/liliInstruct patient in oral hygiene/liliApplication of sealants/liliApplication of fluoride/liliExpose dental diagnostic x-rays/liliMake preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts/liliApplication of matrix bands/liliEtching and bonding of tooth surfaces/liliFabrication of temporary restorations./li/ulpThis position also requires the ability to use a computer, work at a computer workstation, view a CRT, and have some knowledge of a keyboard./ppFrom time to time, this position requires the ability to work long and arduous hours./pp*Salary ranges from $19.50 - $26.21/ph3Licenses Certifications/h3h4strongRequired/strong/h4pMassachusetts DA License/ppEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
