Education/Experience Required
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field
Experience: Typically requires 5 years of experience in physician compensation, finance, accounting, or equivalent that includes consulting with leadership on strategies and planning, budgeting, and plan modeling. Medical group finance and physician compensation plans experience of at least two (2) years. Supervisory experience of at least one year, including budgeting.
Major Responsibilities
Serves as a liaison between operations management, physician leadership, physicians, accounting, and financial services for the following: system physician compensation projects; system data and report analysis, system accounting regarding physician compensation accrual; system physician compensation budgeting; and corporate compliance; review and sign off physician compensation transactions.
Provides consultation to operational leadership, physician leadership and financial leadership on key physician compensation projects, financial impacts, contracting, quality and performance, and related issues. Analyzes and proposes ways to improve the organization's structure, efficiency, or profits. Assists in reviewing/analyzing physician productivity to ensure accuracy for physician compensation calculation and related expenses for assigned entities.
Leads or participates in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of decision support tools/reports to support physician compensation decision making. Develops, refines, and communicates budgeting techniques to provide leadership with optimum control and planning tools.
Develops, executes, and evaluates physician compensation project plans in collaboration with other teams and leadership, identifies project needs and efficiency improvement opportunities. Champions efficiency improvement initiatives, prepares project budget and analyses to support efficiency enhancements and leads projects to assist standardization processes.
Develops and maintains comprehensive analytical and benchmarking tools. Leads systematic and comprehensive analytics to support AHC strategic initiatives. Performs physician compensation modeling and analyses. Summarizes physician compensation data and other metrics and prepares reports.
Provides input into new strategies, policies, and procedures for physician compensation department, and applies principles and approaches appropriately for each market and service line.
Develops and mentors physician compensation department analytics work force to improve efficiency and achieve higher level performance and turnaround time. Leads and performs physician compensation calculations, ensures data integrity, performs auditing, and facilitates timely delivery of reports and communications. Develops and/or delivers training to operational leadership on physician compensation management topics, report interpretation, and systems use.
Leads compensation projects from planning the life cycle to identifying key project activities and guides the project teams to develop sound proposals and successfully implement programs. This includes new programs that support the integration and harmonization of compensation across the system and in support of future mergers/acquisitions, as well as annual compensation programs such as merit, incentives, etc.
Serves as a lead point of contact for clinician compensation. Builds and maintains strong relationships and provides tactical and strategic guidance to HR partners and functional leaders to jointly resolve concerns and issues on simple, as well as complex compensation matters that attracts, motivates, and retains talent.
Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of employees, management, executives, and other organizations. Ability to explain complex financial issues, deliver difficult communications, and educate leadership, clinicians, and Administration.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), or similar products.
Ability to interpret financial policies, procedures, and systems.
Knowledge of consulting methodologies relevant to the financial services industry, such as strategizing, business case development, process mapping, lifecycle of project implementation, requirements gathering, and performing a competitive assessment.
