Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst, with a focus on billing and revenue analytics, to apply in-depth knowledge of our financial data landscape to proactively identify opportunities and influence key business outcomes. As a trusted advisor to finance and business stakeholders, you will guide senior level decision making by translating complex billing, transactional, and revenue data into compelling stories through dashboards and visualizations that illuminate financial trends and performance. You will take the lead in developing efficient, reusable, and self‑service analytical models related to revenue recognition and billing accuracy, establishing yourself as an expert in our financial data sources, quality, and governance. This role requires you to champion best practices in data integrity and collaborate across teams to orchestrate the execution of data driven solutions that directly impact our bottom line.
Responsibilities
Reporting and sharing results: Develop, maintain, and enhance reporting on revenue across products, geographies, and segments to identify growth drivers, performance trends, and areas of risk.
Customer/Stakeholder engagement: Partner with Sales Ops and Finance to analyze sales commissions, quota attainment, and incentive plan effectiveness, providing insights to optimize compensation strategies.
Sales Pipeline to Revenue Insights: Build models and dashboards that connect pipeline metrics, bookings, and billed revenue outcomes, enabling leadership to forecast with greater accuracy.
Data Model Evaluation: Consolidate and align data from Salesforce, billing platforms, and financial systems to create a single source of truth for revenue and commission reporting.
Territory & Quota Planning Support: Provide data‑driven recommendations for territory alignment, quota setting, and incentive plan design based on historical revenue performance and market potential.
Executive Reporting: Deliver clear, concise, and actionable revenue and commission insights to senior leadership through dashboards, scorecards, and presentations.
Operational Efficiency: Automate recurring revenue and commission reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and scalability for self‑service use across the business.
Compliance & Governance: Ensure commission and revenue reporting adheres to internal controls, audit requirements, and data privacy regulations.
Required Qualifications
3+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 1+ year experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
OR equivalent experience
3+ years experience with SQL, KQL, and/or Python for data querying and transformation
3+ years experience developing and maintaining ETL pipelines (Azure Data Factory, Airflow, or similar)
3+ years of experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and data storytelling best practices
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in data analysis or business intelligence
Master’s degree in a relevant field
Consulting experience or prior work in a high‑growth SaaS company
Familiarity with Salesforce, Workday, and other enterprise data sources
Solid understanding of SaaS and revenue metrics
Compensation Range The base salary range for this job is USD $68,200.00 - USD $181,000.00 per year. These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in the role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
