Job Description:
  • Enforce customs regulations and inspect individuals and conveyances.
In addition to these core responsibilities:
foster global trade by facilitating legitimate travel , preventing illicit activities.

The CBP protects national security through targeted inspections that minimize delays for law-abiding travelers.

Federal Law Enforcement officers (FLEOs), such as CBPOs receive competitive pay with annual base salaries ranging from $40,332 to $ depending on grade level GS-5 GS-7; locality pay varies based upon duty location.
