Overview

The General Manager, Hospice, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of clinical care, business development, sales leadership, compliance and financial performance for a census of 200+ patients and a $25M+ P&L. Blends strategic vision, operational excellence, and compassionate leadership to ensure the highest standards of end-of-life care.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develops and executes regional growth strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and clinical excellence.

Business Development & Sales

  • Leads and mentors a high-performing sales team to drive census growth and referral partnerships.
  • Cultivates relationships with hospitals, SNFs, physicians, and community organizations.

Clinical Operations

  • Oversees the clinical leaders who manage the interdisciplinary clinical teams (nurses, social workers, chaplains, aides) delivering care to 200+ patients.
  • Assures compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, state regulations, and accreditation standards at all times.
  • Achieves CAHPS Rating of 4 stars or greater.
  • Financial & Operational Management
  • Manages a $20M–$30M+ P&L with full accountability for revenue, cost control, and EBITDA performance.
  • Analyzes KPIs, implement process improvements, and optimize resource allocation.

Team Development

  • Recruits, trains, and retains top talent across clinical and administrative functions.
  • Promotes employee engagement, professional development, and succession planning

Other Responsibilities:

  • Operational planning and budgeting. Ensures organizational compliance with all Legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensures business operations to insure financial stability. Evaluates hospice services and personnel using measurable outcomes and objectives.
  • Conflict and complaint management and resolution. Establishes and maintains effective channels of communication including integration or technology, as applicable.
  • Ensures hospice personnel stay current with clinical information and practices. Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing.
  • Staff development including orientation, in-service, continuing education, competency testing and quality assessment performance improvement.
  • Ensures that interdisciplinary care is provided. Ensures supportive services are available to personnel.
  • Ensures appropriate service policies and procedures are developed and implemented.
