Responsibilities

  • Lead chairside assisting during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
  • Manage and coordinate the daily workflow of the dental team, providing guidance on best practices in four-handed dentistry to optimize efficiency and patient comfort
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, including medical imaging tools such as 3D scanners and X-ray equipment, ensuring readiness for scheduled procedures
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards
  • Assist with patient intake by recording vital signs, medical history, and updating medical records while explaining procedures using clear dental terminology
  • Oversee the proper use of dental equipment and supplies, including digital imaging devices and medical coding systems for billing purposes
  • Support the dental receptionist in scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow to enhance overall clinic productivity

Skills

  • Extensive experience with dental assisting in general dentistry settings, including pediatric dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics
  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate documentation and medical records management
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security
  • Skilled in taking radiographs (X-ray) and operating advanced imaging tools like 3D scanners for comprehensive diagnostics
  • Ability to perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient health during visits
  • Expertise in infection control practices, aseptic technique, and maintaining a sterile clinical environment
  • Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate record keeping
  • Experience working with pediatric patients and understanding their unique needs within a dental setting
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with dentists, team members, patients, and their families
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technology platforms such as Dentrix or EMR systems for seamless workflow management
