Part-Time Driver (1099 Contractor)

Company Overview: Neighborhood Compost is a women-owned organics hauling service and family farm in New Jersey. We help our neighbors and places of business close the loop between food disposal and cultivation through our organics hauling service and regenerative agricultural practices. We have a family farm nestled in Northwestern New Jersey, dedicated to regenerative agricultural practices.

Who we are looking for?: We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious Part-Time Driver to support our weekly compost operations. The ideal candidate has experience towing a landscaping-style trailer, maintains a clean driving record, and is comfortable performing physical labor. This role requires consistent Saturday availability.

Location: Allamuchy, NJ
Schedule: Saturdays (approximately 6 hours per week)
Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Compensation: $28–$35 per hour (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Trailer Pickup and Transport: Retrieve a trailer loaded with food waste toters from our parking location in Towaco using a company van and transport it to our farm in Allamuchy.
• Unload Compost Materials: Work alongside the farm team to unload toters upon arrival. Must be able to safely lift items weighing 50 lbs or more as needed.
• Compost Pile Support: Assist with building and managing compost piles using collected food waste.
• Trailer Return: Return the empty trailer to the Towaco location after unloading.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, safety procedures, and company policies during operation.

Qualifications

• Consistent availability on Saturdays
• Strong communication skills for clear interaction with team members and clients.
• Clean driving record
• Prior experience towing a landscaping or similar trailer strongly preferred
• Interest in farming, sustainability, or composting is a plus
• Ability to perform physical labor in an outdoor environment all year round
