Job Description Consulting Network Engineer
Location: Denver Metro Area. Full‑time. Remote work with occasional onsite visits.
Compensation: $90k per year salary.
Education: 4‑year bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in IT (systems/network engineering or network administration).
Responsibilities
Work independently with small‑business clients to troubleshoot and resolve IT issues.
Serve as primary point of contact for selected clients, explaining technical problems to non‑techies and providing reassurance.
Configure and maintain servers and networking devices (VLANs for VOIP, switches, firewalls, routers, Wi‑Fi).
Perform desktop support tasks such as password resets and general troubleshooting.
Enter time in PSA and complete administrative duties.
Respond to on‑call emergency support requests (rare).
Maintain client communications with professional, proactive service.
Qualifications
At least 5 years of IT experience in systems/network engineering or network administration.
Strong communication skills: explain complex IT concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Excellent customer‑service ethic and accommodating attitude.
Time‑management skills: prioritize and follow up on unresolved issues.
Technical expertise: Windows desktop and Server OSes, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IPv4 routing/subnetting, switches, VLANs, 802.11 Wi‑Fi, backup solutions, firewalls (Fortinet, Ubiquiti), VPN/SASE, virtualization (VMWare ESXi), MS Intune, AutoPilot, AI tooling, and automation.
Familiarity with PSA (ConnectWise), RMM (Ninja, LogMeIn), AV (OpenText), MDR (BlackPoint), Backup (RedStor), Microsoft 365.
Current residency in the Denver Metro area and reliable vehicle for client visits.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work with a quiet, reliable home office and fast Internet.
Will work occasional after‑hours and emergency calls.
