Job Title: Surgical Technologist (CST) - Per Diem Location: Sentara Health Facilities - Halifax Company: ATC Healthcare Services Position Overview ATC Healthcare is seeking experienced Surgical Technologists (CSTs) for per diem opportunities within Sentara Health facilities. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment and are committed to supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout the operative process. Key Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring proper instrumentation, equipment, and supplies are available and sterile Maintain sterile technique and aseptic practices throughout surgical procedures Assist surgeons, nurses, and other surgical team members during operations by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to facilitate efficient workflow Perform surgical counts according to facility policy Handle specimens appropriately and ensure accurate labeling Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures Ensure compliance with all facility, regulatory, and infection prevention standards Document required procedural information accurately and timely Requirements Active Surgical Technologist certification (CST) preferred or required per facility guidelines Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program Minimum 1-2 years of recent surgical technologist experience preferred Current BLS certification Experience in multiple surgical specialties preferred Strong knowledge of sterile processing, instrumentation, and surgical procedures Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced operating room environment Schedule & Assignment Details Per diem / PRN shifts (days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed) Flexible scheduling based on facility needs and clinician availability Opportunities available across multiple Sentara Health locations Why ATC Healthcare?
