The Safety Policy & Compliance Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining NJ TRANSIT’s Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program across all Bus, Rail, Light Rail, and administrative facilities. This role ensures AED units are functional, accessible, and compliant with safety regulations. The position also supports broader safety initiatives by conducting field inspections, updating AED dashboards, developing field maps, assisting with safety program documentation, and maintaining inspection checklists. Roles & Responsibilities:
Coordinate the rollout, inspection, and maintenance of AED units across NJ TRANSIT locations.
Conduct regular field inspections to verify AED units are fully operational and properly located.
Replace or service AED units and related components (e.g., batteries, pads) as needed.
Maintain accurate logs of AED inventory, inspection results, service records, and deployment status.
Update AED tracking dashboards and safety metrics reports to reflect real-time status and compliance.
Develop and maintain detailed field maps showing AED unit locations across all facilities.
Assist in the development, review, and revision of safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Support the implementation of safety initiatives by updating safety documentation and protocols.
Maintain, update, and distribute safety inspection checklists to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
Coordinate with safety officers and facilities staff to resolve deficiencies identified during field inspections.
Provide data and visual reports to support regulatory audits and internal safety reviews.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Math, Science, Public Health, Environmental Health, Safety, Emergency Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role involving program coordination, field inspections, safety compliance, or AED equipment management.
Prior experience with safety checklists, inspection logs, or program tracking systems is a plus. .
Knowledge & Skills:
Familiarity with regulatory safety requirements applicable to Bus, Light Rail, and Rail operations.
Knowledge of AED program compliance standards and related health and safety protocols.
Proficiency in using computers and technical systems for data entry, tracking, and reporting.
Must be able to travel regularly to NJ TRANSIT facilities and field locations as required.
