About the team The Direct Surfaces Team's mission is to make it delightful for users to manage their money. We're rebuilding and unbundling the core of Stripe so that no matter what the business, the location, or the use case there is a single place that can fulfill all financial needs: Stripe Treasury. This is a 0 → 1 new business at Stripe, so if that sounds exciting we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll do Engineers at Stripe are comfortable working on new products under fluid conditions, seamlessly balancing tactical and strategic considerations all in service of our users.
Responsibilities
Deliver a world-class mobile experience for Treasury users, including working with our partners to design and launch new features and capabilities
Scope and lead technical projects, laying the groundwork for our products to iteratively evolve and scale
Design, build, expand, and maintain mobile-specific view cross-platform components, backing APIs and their services
Align our technical decisions with the broad strategic initiatives at Stripe, while also advocating for needs specific to emerging new businesses
Work with engineers across the company to understand when to leverage existing infrastructure versus when building a bespoke solution is prudent
Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
Who you are We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Have a strong technical background, including 3+ years of industry experience
Have experience building mobile applications including working beyond just the client
Understand good practices when building and working with UIs and APIs
Measure your success in terms of business impact, not lines of code
Internalize the best ideas from across the organization, humbly setting a vision that others are excited to get behind
Work well cross-functionally and earn trust from coworkers at all levels. You are often cited as the inspiration for engineers who join your team
Care deeply about mentorship and growing engineers. Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what will last and scale
Thrive in a collaborative environment
Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different areas of expertise. Engineering works closely with a variety of teams including Sales and Support to better understand our customers' needs, Legal and Accounting to understand how global policies influence our money-moving infrastructure, and more
Preferred qualifications
Have experience using React Native
Have experience in ensuring great user experience and ease of use of features for products you build
Have experience with financial product companies and interest in financial products and markets
Office-assigned Stripe staff in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripe staff in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.
The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is £81,600 - £122,400. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Benefits/additional compensation for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; retirement plans; health benefits; and wellness stipends.
