Senior/Staff Embedded Software Engineer - C++ (San Diego, CA) You will work on the development of Intravascular Ultrasound Systems. As a member of an international cross‑functional team, you work closely together with electrical engineers, transducer engineers, software engineers, system engineers, and ultrasound engineers.
Your role:
Being a key contributor to the development of medical capital equipment; architect, design, and develop embedded software for intravascular ultrasound systems.
Interfacing with multi‑disciplinary teams consisting of marketing, hardware, software, catheter design, and manufacturing to refine design requirements for next‑generation intravascular ultrasound devices.
Create software requirement specifications, software architecture documents, and detailed software design documents.
Design and debug firmware for embedded processors, microcontrollers, digital signal processors, and other electronic components using C/C++. Generate and release design documentation per production development procedures.
Lead, generate, and conduct formal verification and validation plans for completed designs in collaboration with Quality and Regulatory.
Conduct technical design reviews with the project team(s) and independent subject‑matter experts across the company.
You're the right fit if:
You have 5+ years' experience in software/firmware development preferably in medical electronics, and industry experience creating detailed design documentation (specifications, design descriptions, verification and testing plans).
You have earned a BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
You must have experience with C/C++ (design and coding) for embedded applications; FreeRTOS experience will be preferred.
Having familiarity with cardiac and vascular catheterization procedures, tools, and terminology is desired. Knowledge of digital signal and image processing would be a plus.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with company management and outside business associates.

How we work together: We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office‑based teams, this means working in‑person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full‑time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customer’s or supplier’s locations.

Philips Transparency Details: The pay range for this position in CA is $128,520 - $205,632.00.
The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors such as job‑related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
In addition, other compensation—such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission, or long‑term incentives—may be offered.
