Job Description
Enter codes to create a production database.
Select and enter codes of utility program to monitor database performance, such as distribution of records and amount of available memory.
Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to the database management system.
Review and correct programs.
Answer user questions.
Confer with coworkers to determine the impact of database changes on other systems and staff costs.
Modify database programs to increase processing performance (performance tuning).
Specialize in one or more types of database management systems.
Provide assistance in planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems, ensuring conceptual and design phases of new applications are consistent with structural parameters.
Evaluate users' requests for new data elements and systems, incorporate them into the shared environment, and provide technical assistance.
Coordinate the use of data to ensure integrity and control redundancy, load databases, and reorganize as needed.
Perform data modeling and prototyping, including logical and physical data modeling and design of relational database models.
Perform security recovery procedures.
Determine and implement database search strategies and storage requirements.
Maintain a data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions and establish standards for its use.
Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
Create test database environments for application sections, including creation of necessary libraries and procedures.
Execute procedures to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures within established procedures.
Assist with determining, implementing, and enhancing standards on database security and monitoring agency disaster recovery procedures and systems.
Assist with installation of database software and with analyzing, designing, and implementing databases.
Assist in benchmarking and threshold testing of databases and in establishing and controlling necessary database security.
Assist in selecting database management software.
Provide support to users in obtaining data and information when EIR accessibility issues arise.
Ensure user interfaces for database administration and output via reports are compliant with accessibility standards.
Additional Job Details and Special Considerations We are seeking a Senior Operational Oracle DBA to ensure the stability, patching, and scalability of critical database environments that support multiple concurrent ERP implementations and upgrades.
The primary responsibility is to design and execute database upgrades from Oracle 19c to Oracle 23ai, and to maintain multiple environments that support ETL activities. Candidates must have hands‑on experience with Grid Infrastructure setup and maintenance, security vulnerability compliance, and performance tuning.
This position requires working outside standard business hours, depending on project activities.
This is a remote position; if it should become hybrid, an in‑office schedule will be negotiated.

Candidate Skills and Qualifications Minimum Requirements
8 years – Infrastructure management with Oracle 19c version or higher
8 years – Grid infrastructure (ASM, Clusterware)
8 years – High‑availability (GoldenGate, Active Data Guard)
8 years – Advanced scripting (Linux, SQL)
4 years – Preferred: Experience working with a public sector organization (Federal, State, or Local Government)
2 years – Preferred: Experience working with a hosting vendor
2 years – Preferred: Experience working with Oracle PeopleSoft products
