About the Team The ZF Off-Highway Solutions Minnesota Inc. team designs and manufactures hydraulic and electrohydraulic components, controls, and brake systems for off-highway machines. As a Product Design Engineer, you will support the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects related to hydraulic components and brake systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, project management, manufacturing, and customers to develop specifications, create designs, and ensure successful project completion from concept through production.
Responsibilities
Develop project concepts into detailed written engineering specifications
Design, research, and develop mechanical components and systems for assigned projects
Plan, coordinate, and execute design assignments including both minor and major projects
Collaborate with sales, customers, project teams, and manufacturing to ensure design alignment
Proceed independently on design work while participating in regular technical discussions
Provide technical direction and review work of designers and drafters
Support continuous improvement by recommending product and process enhancements
Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
Minimum of 4 years of experience in product design, preferably in hydraulic components or brake systems
Strong background in hydraulics, mechanics, and analytical design techniques
Experience with drafting, materials, castings, and manufacturing processes
Knowledge of design tolerances and production techniques for hydraulic valves and actuators
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and standards
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and draw valid conclusions
Ability to apply advanced mathematical and engineering principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly

Expected base compensation for this role is $72,164-110,000 annually. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position - this range includes Engineer I, Engineer II, and Engineer III levels.
