eero is looking for an experienced engineering manager to lead a Connectivity – platform engineering team. This leader will work across the entire device software stack from the bootloader all the way to the management plane in Golang, RUST, and Python.
Key Job Responsibilities
Lead a team of Embedded SW Engineers (SDEs) driving bring‑up and platform support.
Program and debug in C, Python, Go, RUST, among other areas.
Provide hands‑on technical leadership to the team, including own code contributions and meticulous code reviews.
Hire, lead, and coach a team of high performing engineers tasked with improving eeroOS and supporting platform/bring‑up work.
Empower the team to regularly deliver high‑impact customer features on tight timelines.
Build detailed schedules and technical requirements from high‑level product descriptions.
Communicate status in an understandable way to a wide range of audiences.
Estimate delivery dates with confidence intervals based on measured team velocity, remaining work, and projected new work.
Identify, champion, and deliver the highest impact engineering investments needed for long‑term delivery.
Implement process improvements for the team and surrounding teams.
Analyze performance and stability data from testing and production populations to catch regressions and validate new features.
Manage headcount projections, recruiting, and continuous performance evaluations.
Monitor, drive, and facilitate individual growth of the team's contributors.
A Day in the Life The day includes analyzing feature stability, reproducing bugs from QA, coaching an engineer, reviewing technical specs, performing code reviews, phone‑screening candidates, prioritizing incoming CX tickets, and collaborating with product and hardware teams on new customer experiences.
About the Team The platform team is responsible for all software that goes on eero hardware, from low‑level firmware to user‑space applications, aiming to deliver the ultimate connectivity experience. The team works closely with Customer Experience, Product, Cloud, QA, Hardware, Product Analytics, and Manufacturing Operations.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of engineering team management experience.
4+ years of directly working within engineering teams.
3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
5+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services.
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/network development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness.
Experience with embedded systems.
Experience with user‑space and kernel areas.
Understanding of networking work with embedded systems.
The base salary range for this position is listed in the job posting. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
