Staff Physician Internal Medicine
to join their innovative Value-Based Care Clinic as core faculty for the Internal Medicine Health Equity Track. This is a unique opportunity to combine direct patient care with resident teaching in a mission-driven academic environment focused on health equity, community medicine, and value-based care. Open About the Role
This is a dual-mission position combining
academic faculty responsibilities
with
direct patient care
in a value-based care clinic. You will serve as core faculty for the Internal Medicine Health Equity Track, supervise residents in a collaborative academic setting, and deliver high-quality, population-centered care addressing the social determinants of health. The position is affiliated with both the health system and a prominent academic medical university. Teaching & Educational Leadership
Serve as core faculty for the Internal Medicine Health Equity Track Supervise Internal Medicine residents in a clinic-based experiential learning environment Provide real-time clinical teaching in primary care, population health, value-based care, and health equity-focused practice Teach residents to integrate social determinants of health, community-engaged care, and equity-centered clinical decision-making Participate in journal clubs, lecture series, case conferences, and resident workshops Mentor residents in quality improvement initiatives, health equity research, and scholarly activities Collaborate with residency and program leadership to develop curriculum aligned with ACGME competencies Provide formative and summative feedback to residents to support professional growth Direct Patient Care Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive Internal Medicine care within the Value-Based Care Clinic Utilize evidence-based guidelines and value-based care principles Help establish and refine value-based standard practices for the clinic Use population health tools, risk stratification, and care coordination strategies Improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare disparities Identify and address non-medical drivers of health impacting patient care Deliver coordinated, team-based care alongside care managers, pharmacists, social workers, behavioral health specialists, and community partners Partner collaboratively with Graduate Medical Education personnel ACGME Core Competency Alignment
Provide compassionate, effective care for complex adult patients Model equitable and high-value care for residents Maintain current expertise in Internal Medicine, health equity science, and value-based care frameworks Integrate evidence-based medicine into both patient care and teaching Participate in quality improvement projects and mentor residents in QI methodology Support operational plans, coordinated care delivery, and clinical process improvement Demonstrate advanced communication, leadership, innovation, and problem-solving skills Requirements
Completion of ACGME or AMA approved residency required, no exceptions Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine required Texas Medical License (or willingness to obtain) required At least one professional reference within the last 24 months required Interest in resident education and academic medicine required Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary care environment required Clean malpractice and license history highly preferred Experience in medical education, health equity, population health, or value-based care highly preferred Why Apply Through Us?
