Role Overview As the
Digital Media & Creative Content Specialist , you are the storyteller and brand architect of WSUA. Working directly alongside our Social Media Manager and Executive Leadership, your mission is to transform raw logistical milestones (field photos, delivery logs, tracking manifests) into professional, high-impact digital content. This role bypasses passive scheduling to focus entirely on asset creation, visual design, and copy architecture. It is an ideal position for a creative storyteller who wants full design autonomy and the chance to build a rich, purpose-driven professional portfolio. How This Role Builds Your Resume We design our volunteer positions to act as elite career-launchers. By claiming ownership of our creative output, you will secure concrete, metric-driven achievements for your professional portfolio: Visual Brand Architecture:
"Designed and implemented a cohesive visual identity and asset library (Canva) for an international nonprofit, ensuring brand uniformity across all public pitch kits and digital channels." Multi-Media Content Production:
"Produced and edited short-form video assets and data-driven infographics translating complex international trade, logistical tracking, and green-energy milestones into high-engagement public media." Digital Audience Retention:
"Co-authored and designed a monthly digital impact newsletter sent to individual and corporate donors, driving long-term stakeholder retention and engagement." Key Responsibilities Visual Design & Asset Creation Develop and maintain a centralized, clean library of Canva templates, presentation decks, and style guides for WSUA. Design high-quality infographic flyers and pitch materials used by our growth team to secure corporate hardware sponsorships and private foundation grants. Create visually compelling, data-backed graphics that map out our programmatic impacts (e.g., illustrating how a decentralized energy mini-grid powers a community). Short-Form Video & Field Storytelling Receive raw field photos, delivery clips, and arrival notifications directly from our international supply chain liaisons. Edit highly engaging, short-form video content (Reels, TikTok, Shorts, or LinkedIn video assets) that showcases real-world execution—such as our recent milestone of delivering an emergency 6kW generator to a frontline village. Package content to emphasize WSUA's core values of transparency and 100% material accountability. Donor Communications & Copywriting Draft and layout our monthly "Solidarity & Impact" community email newsletter to keep individual donors continuously connected to our progress. Write clear, compelling social media copy and micro-narratives tailored to professional spaces like LinkedIn and grassroots community networks. Qualifications & Skills Tools:
Proficiency in Canva is required. Experience with video editing tools (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or similar) is a major plus. Background:
Strong interest or active studies in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing. Mindset:
Highly creative, attentive to detail, and entirely comfortable collaborating asynchronously in a remote team environment. Portfolio:
Applicants should be prepared to share 2–3 samples of graphic or video work (academic, professional, or personal projects are all welcome). The WSUA Professional Promise We respect your creative talent and invest heavily in your upward professional mobility. In exchange for your time, WSUA provides: Direct Strategic Mentorship:
Regular creative reviews with our Social Media Manager and Executive Director to align your projects with your long-term portfolio goals. Digital Legitimacy & Authority:
A professional organizational email address (yourname@westernsolidarityua.org) hosted on our private, secure stack to facilitate your collaborative workflows. Verifiable Career Validation:
Detailed, metric-oriented letters of recommendation, professional references, and LinkedIn endorsements upon the successful completion of your tenure. Academic Credit Support:
Full cooperation with university departments if you are pursuing this specialist role for formal internship or course credit. Logistics & Time Commitment Hours:
Part-time,
5 hours per week . Location:
100% Remote / Virtual with flexible, asynchronous scheduling. Duration:
Minimum commitment of 6 months.
