Powers Taylor LLP is a boutique plaintiff litigation firm in Dallas focused on medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death cases across Texas. We are looking for a licensed attorney who is eager to learn, motivated to advocate for injured clients, and excited to grow into a trial lawyer. This is not a "sit in the back and review documents for two years" position.
Our associates work directly with experienced trial attorneys on meaningful, high-stakes cases that make a real difference for Texas families. You'll gain hands-on litigation experience early, including drafting pleadings, attending depositions, preparing cases for trial, working with experts, and participating in strategy discussions from day one.
What You'll Do: Manage a caseload of medical malpractice and personal injury claims. Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies. Draft comprehensive legal documents, including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and correspondence. Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel to maximize client benefits. Represent clients in settlement negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings when necessary. Collaborate with experts such as medical professionals and accident reconstruction specialists to build strong cases. Maintain detailed case files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with all legal procedures and regulations. Hands-on litigation and courtroom experience. Direct mentorship from experienced trial attorneys.
What We're Looking For: Proven experience in personal injury law with a strong understanding of litigation processes. Excellent legal research skills utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other research platforms. Strong writing skills for drafting clear, persuasive legal documents. Effective negotiation skills to secure favorable outcomes for clients. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Self-starter with a willingness to learn. Someone who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Passion for helping people and advocating for injured clients.
