The Financial Management System for California (FI$Cal) is seeking to hire two (2) student assistants to support the Information technology division of the FI$Cal system, a billion-dollar statewide project. This position is a supporting role in the Information Technology Division. The desired candidates must be comfortable working in an Information Technology setting.
Responsibilities
Assist IT staff to develop or update system documentation and standard operating procedures.
Analyze data using Excel or other tools to create graphs and presentations.
Help configure or set up internal tools.
Assist IT support team with routine ticket resolution.
Participate in IT project tasks such as data reconciliation, documentation, research, analysis, training, and business support activities.
Develop and update reports, plans, and process documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Quick learner who can think outside the box.
Creative, organized and detail oriented.
Responsible, dependable with the ability to multi-task.
Ability to work well with others, including high-level executives, staff, and peers.
Motivated, innovative, and takes initiative.
Able to facilitate small to medium-sized meetings.
Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
State agencies may give preference to applicants who are dependent child in foster care, homeless youth, formerly incarcerated youth, or victim of human trafficking under Government Code section 18220, up to 26 years old.
Applicants in these categories must provide documentation establishing eligibility and may not be selected; if not selected, hiring authority must document reasons, aligning with state legislation.
Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions Work is performed in a hybrid environment. Students or employees are required to comply with the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI Work from Home Agreement. The supervisor or employer may decide to permit or terminate the option to work from home at any time.
