Full job description As a Network Engineer at Logix, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for the architectural design and lifecycle management of our Optical transport systems, facilities, and customer circuits. You will drive high-impact engineering projects, including system updates, migrations, and network optimization initiatives, ensuring our core network remains resilient, scalable, and high-performing.
Beyond network design, you will act as a vital bridge between Service Delivery/Provisioning, Outside Plant, and Network Operations, providing the technical blueprint and troubleshooting expertise that keeps our fiber-fed network at the forefront of the industry.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Blueprints: Lead the design of Metro and Long-Haul ROADM/DWDM systems, producing comprehensive engineering documents that detail installation, commissioning, and material requirements.
Infrastructure Management: Determine physical connectivity and as-built network status using facilities management databases.
Capacity Planning: Maintain market-level network awareness to lead optimization analysis and ensure sufficient capacity for growth.
Technology Evaluation: Test and evaluate emerging technologies and equipment to ensure Logix remains competitive.
Full Lifecycle Management: Manage project-related moves, adds, changes (MACs), and decommissions, ensuring all database records (bearer circuits, network devices) are 100% accurate.
Configuration & Logistics: Configure optical equipment for core photonic connectivity and determine precise Bills of Material (BOM).
Operational Handoff: Publish detailed job aids and installation sequences to ensure field personnel and NOC teams can execute flawlessly.
Expert Support: Serve as an escalation point for NOC and Operations for complex optical troubleshooting.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Outside Plant, Warehouse, and Provisioning to ensure Capitol Asset deployment is on time and within budget.
Mentorship: Provide professional guidance and technical training to junior staff and adjacent teams.
Required Skills/Abilities
Advanced Knowledge of Metro and Long Haul ROADM and DWDM Systems
Advanced knowledge of Optical networking and layer 1-2 of the OSI Model
Advanced knowledge of electrical transceiver types and models as they relate to optical line systems
Familiarity with TCP/IP routing and switching protocols
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
Possesses good interpersonal skills.
Adept at working in a fast pace ever changing environment.
Familiarity with network automation protocols and tools like python scripting, Netmiko, Ansible, Netconf and Yang
Possesses organizational skills conducive to accurate, on-time results while managing multiple simultaneous projects.
Adept at collecting data, establishing facts, defining problems, and evaluating impact of problems.
Maintains positive attitude towards customers, co-workers and management.
Maintains honesty and integrity in all circumstances.
Effectively manages time while supporting multiple simultaneous projects.
Possesses professional and effective oral and written communication skills.
Education and Experience
Four-year technical degree or comparable work experience.
5+ years’ experience in the telecommunications carrier industry with responsibilities in engineering and technical aspects of transport systems.
Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate by typing, reading, talking, and listening effectively. The employee will be required to work for extended periods of time at a desk on a computer and must be able to maneuver through office spaces as needed.
