Position Overview The Immunization Program Medical Assistant-Client Support Specialist (MA‑CSS) will support health services provided to patients by ensuring quality patient care through immunization operations. The MA‑CSS will perform front‑ and back‑office duties, adhere to Harris County Public Health policies, and provide clerical front desk support to facilitate clinic operations. The position reports to the Mobile Immunization Assistant Program Manager and involves traveling throughout Harris County.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with patient appointments, including immunization, phlebotomy (capillary and venous draws), urine collection, pregnancy and lead testing, vital signs, and gathering patient histories.
Perform clinic front‑office duties such as scheduling, answering phone calls, and checking patients in and out.
Prepare and label all patient specimens for transport to appropriate laboratories.
Provide in‑room support for all clinical staff during clinic visits, including assistance during procedures.
Maintain laboratory and exam rooms in a neat, clean, and orderly manner in accordance with infection‑control policies and complete monthly inventories.
Assist with data entry and electronic data processing using the HCPH electronic medical record system (Epic), Microsoft Excel, and related programs.
Support coordination of scheduling patients to receive services from multidisciplinary team members.
Interview clients to collect required information for eligibility determination, using grant and payor guidelines.
Education
Completion of a community college or business/technical school Medical Assistant program.
Experience
Six (6) months of experience in a healthcare setting.
Experience in phlebotomy.
Licenses / Certifications
American Heart Association CPR Certification.
Valid Texas Driver's License.
Medical Assistant Certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
Full‑time position, funded through special revenue.
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
40 hours per week.
May include weekends, early mornings, and evenings.
Work Environment
Operates in a medical clinic environment and standard office environment with computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects up to 10 lbs, occasional up to 20 lbs, rarely up to 50 lbs.
Work Location
Mobile setting, traveling throughout Harris County jurisdiction.
