Job Summary
The Software Engineer (SMTS) works on mission-oriented projects that span from self-driving cars and unmanned vehicles to medical applications and battlefield situational awareness systems. The role is within an Agile environment, converting customer requirements into functional, scalable software solutions and seeing a project through from design to deployment in the field. Responsibilities
Independently execute task assignments. Design algorithms using modern theory and proven techniques, adhering to software best practices. Analyze designs to demonstrate performance and functionality. Develop and execute software tests to check compliance with requirements. Prepare technical data, procedures, reports, drawings, manuals, and other required documentation. Communicate with customers and stakeholders to establish requirements and describe design and deliverables. Drive solutions to complex problems, actively participate in requirements development, propose ways forward, and adapt appropriately to changes. Contribute to system architecture decisions and lead the architecture of sub-systems. Provide insight and suggest adaptations or modifications to processes and/or applications based on quantitative data or results. Identify project technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies. Actively mentor less experienced staff and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback. Lead a small team of software developers on projects. Qualifications
Curiosity-driven approach to solving complex, customer-driven problems as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new programming languages and technologies. Excellent collaboration and communication skills with multi-disciplinary program team members, program leadership, and non-technical personnel. Team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to balance multiple competing tasks. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). 5 to 10 years’ experience in software engineering or a related field. Applicants must obtain and maintain a government security clearance; Secret clearance required. Location
