Overview Molex is seeking a dynamic
Product Development Engineer – Connector Design
to be part of our strong Engineering Team to develop new products that we bring to market. You will be part of our Connector Design Team and collaborate with our cross‑functional team internationally.
Responsibilities
Use CAD skills in 2D and 3D, preferably in UG NX.
Hands‑on experience in GD&T, tolerance studies, statistical analysis, DFMEA.
Interpret FEA reports.
Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA) experience with plastic, sheet metal, and casting.
Apply systematic problem‑solving tools such as 8D, fishbone, cause/effect diagrams.
Follow the product development process from concept to production.
Communicate effectively in oral and written formats, and explain complex technical concepts to others.
Use Team Center and Polarion software.
Support design efforts in developing new connectors, cable assembly components, and networking products for high‑speed connectivity in autonomous vehicles and automotive systems.
Prepare presentation material for design reviews and customer meetings.
Create DFMEA, execute risk‑mitigating actions, and update DFMEA accordingly.
Support design/product validation planning and reporting, and participate in cross‑functional feasibility reviews.
Provide technical support to internal and external customers and respond to questions/requests promptly.
Perform stack studies and other analyses required by DFMEA to reduce failure modes before tool release.
Prepare manufacturing drawings and perform engineering tests for qualification in the reliability lab.
Support new product development, debug, and release; supply tooling groups with necessary drawings for quoting and tool build.
Assist manufacturing in the debug process and support documentation, publishing, and expediting of action items for new product programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent science degree.
3–5 years of design and product development experience, preferably with connectors.
3–5 years of experience in connector design and development.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to others.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with statistical analysis and DFMEA in product development.
Knowledge of product development processes and DFM/DFA.
Experience with FEA report interpretation.
Familiarity with polarion software and team center.
