Legal Lead – Gaming & Regulatory / Syndikusrechtsanwalt (m/w/d)
As Legal Lead – Gaming & Regulatory / Syndikusrechtsanwalt (m/w/d) you will build up the legal and regulatory function of Next Lotto in a highly regulated and internationally scalable industry. You will ensure that our growth is legally and regulatory sound — from product and licensing issues to communication with authorities, international market entries, strategic partnerships, and potential corporate acquisitions. You will be the central contact person for management, product, finance, and commercial teams and help to identify legal risks early, implement regulatory requirements pragmatically, and enable new growth opportunities legally. Your Tasks
You will advise management and internal teams on legal, regulatory, and strategic issues related to gambling, gaming, product development, and commercial growth. You will review regulatory requirements for existing and new products, markets, and business models and assist with licensing, approval, and authority processes. You will accompany communication with authorities, external law firms, and regulatory consultants and ensure that requirements are implemented in a structured, timely, and business-oriented manner. You will support strategic partnerships, international market entries, and potential corporate acquisitions from a legal and regulatory perspective. You will build up internal legal and regulatory processes, templates, contract standards, policies, and decision structures. You will work closely with product, finance, commercial, operations, and management to integrate legal requirements into product and business decisions early on. You will efficiently manage external law firms and specialists and ensure that external expertise is made usable internally. Your Competences
Must-have: Full-time lawyer, attorney, or corporate lawyer with a German legal focus Experience in a regulated environment, e.g., gaming, FinTech, payment, platform business, tech, media, telecommunications, or compliance Confident in contract review, contract design, and contract negotiation Ability to quickly understand complex legal and regulatory issues and pragmatically align them for the business Fluent German and good English skills Nice-to-have: Experience with gambling law, gambling state treaty, GGL, licensing issues, or authority communication Experience with digital products, platforms, international business models, or partnerships Knowledge in data protection, compliance, AML/KYC, IP, or consumer law Experience with international expansion/M&A issues Softskills
You work independently, structured, and with high ownership. You can explain complex legal and regulatory issues in a comprehensible way and translate them into pragmatic decisions. You are business-oriented without underestimating regulatory risks. You not only recognize problems but also develop concrete solution paths with which growth becomes legally possible. You communicate confidently with management, product, finance, commercial teams, external law firms, consultants, and authorities. You feel comfortable in a dynamic scale-up where structures still have to be built up, and you bring the ability to create order, standards, and clear decision paths. You are discreet, reliable, and resilient in dealing with sensitive company, product, contract, and regulatory information. Your Goals in this Role (Impact)
Within the first 6–12 months, you have built a scalable legal and regulatory structure that supports Next Lotto in growth, new markets, product development, and strategic partnerships. You have established central legal processes, contract standards, and regulatory workflows and are the first point of contact for product, licensing, and growth-related legal issues. You support the company in evaluating new market opportunities, international expansion options, and potential M&A or partnership opportunities. At the same time, you reduce operational dependencies on external law firms, manage external consulting efficiently, and ensure that legal risks are identified early and pragmatically resolved. Your Background – Education & Experience
You bring several years of relevant professional experience, ideally in the gambling, gaming, regulatory, tech, FinTech, platform, or lottery environment. You have worked in-house, in a specialized law firm, in a consulting firm, or in a regulatory-oriented corporate role and now want to independently take responsibility for central legal and regulatory issues in a growing company. Ideally, you bring about 5+ years of relevant experience and can act as a central legal and regulatory contact person for the business. Experience with regulated business models, international markets, licensing issues, partnerships, or M&A-related issues is particularly relevant. What We Offer You:
