Responsibilities About the team: On the TikTok Search Team, you will develop and apply cutting‑edge machine‑learning technologies in real‑time large‑scale systems that serve billions of search requests daily. Through advanced NLP and multimodal models, our projects improve the search experience for hundreds of millions of users worldwide and explore how to leverage large language models to further enhance TikTok search.
Content understanding: Apply state‑of‑the‑art NLP and CV techniques and LLMs to match the most relevant videos for each search query, continuously improving relevance.
User behavior modeling: Solve recommendation problems in search to increase personalization while maintaining relevance, better understanding user intent.
Video understanding: Integrate NLP, CV, and LLMs to evaluate videos and their social context, improving authority, credibility, and usefulness of search results.
Qualifications
PhD in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or currently completing one.
Proficient coding skills and a strong foundation in algorithms and data structures.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Experience in one or more of: NLP, ranking, advertising, search engines, recommender systems, distributed systems, or machine learning.
Job Information The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $156,000 – $316,800 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. Base pay is one part of the total package, which may also include discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary by location. Employees receive day‑one medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) savings plan with company match; paid parental leave; short‑term and long‑term disability coverage; life insurance; wellbeing benefits; 10 paid holidays; 10 paid sick days; and 17 days of paid personal time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
