Lead Applications Engineer, Innovation Center (Customer Facing) San Jose (San Jose, CA)
Overview A leading semiconductor test solutions company is expanding its Innovation Center and hiring a Lead Application Engineer to support customer-driven development of advanced test solutions. This is a highly visible, hands‑on role focused on working directly with customers, internal R&D teams, and partners to design and implement next‑generation semiconductor test strategies. Unlike traditional application engineering roles aligned to a single product line, this position spans multiple technologies and programs.
What You’ll Do
Partner directly with semiconductor customers to gather requirements and develop tailored test solutions
Develop, debug, and optimize test programs on leading automated test equipment (ATE) platforms
Support prototype, NPI, and advanced test development initiatives
Serve as the primary Application Engineer within an Innovation Center environment
Collaborate with internal engineering teams, hardware vendors, and external partners
Analyze test data and drive performance improvements
Present technical solutions and results to customers and internal stakeholders
What You Bring
5–10+ years of semiconductor test or application engineering experience
Strong hands‑on experience with enterprise‑grade ATE platforms
Experience with modern ATE software environments (object‑oriented programming in C++ and/or Java)
Proven ability to independently develop and debug test programs on production hardware
Customer‑facing experience, including gathering requirements and presenting solutions
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
Nice to Have
Experience with probe cards, PCB design, or hardware interface evaluation
Knowledge of Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI)
Ability to read schematics
Background in device characterization or advanced test development
Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., JMP or similar)
Exposure to AI‑driven or data‑centric test workflows
