The Opportunity
Merlin Cyber seeks a Cybersecurity Solutions Architect – Senior Level to serve as a subject‑matter expert on Zero Trust and the solutions provided by our ISV/OEM partners. You will develop go‑to‑market solution offerings, act as a trusted advisor to customers, and design architectures that align with federal requirements.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Zero Trust Subject Matter Expertise
Lead Zero Trust strategy and architecture discussions, mapping agency requirements to Merlin’s capabilities across identity, device, network, application, data, visibility/analytics, and automation/orchestration pillars.
Lead technical discovery sessions, whiteboarding, and architecture reviews.
Explain how Merlin’s solutions interoperate within federal environments and align to NIST SP 800‑207 and agency ZT strategies.
Document assumptions, dependencies, and risks; recommend mitigation strategies and phased deployment roadmaps.
Create architecture diagrams, reference designs, and implementation patterns that show alignment with Zero Trust and desired outcomes.
Technical Practice Areas & Go‑to‑Market Support
Develop solution offerings with TPA leads and Merlin Labs, including reference architectures, BOMs, and service descriptions.
Translate product capabilities into mission‑aligned value propositions; prepare executive‑ready visuals for briefings and proposals.
Incorporate AI‑enabled capabilities and emerging technologies into offerings, ensuring secure design and responsible use.
Provide pre‑sales engineering support and guide handoffs to TPA leads and customer success teams.
Ensure solutions meet agency needs and align with federal frameworks (NIST RMF/800‑53/171/172, NIST 800‑207, FIPS 140‑3, FedRAMP, TIC 3.0, EO 14028, agency Zero Trust strategies).
Support the growth of Merlin’s Zero Trust Practice Area by contributing technical insights to strategy, partner enablement, and solution innovation.
Advise on secure adoption of AI/ML within federal environments, including generative AI, autonomous security tools, and AI‑enabled analytics.
Collaborate with ISV/OEM product management, solution engineering, and alliances to validate integrations across Merlin’s portfolio.
Develop reusable collateral—diagrams, templates, playbooks, and decision guides—for TPAs and Merlin Labs.
Support research analysts and Merlin Labs in producing market and technical analysis reports.
Stay current with market trends and advise stakeholders on technology adoption and strategic partnerships.
Mentor junior engineers and support internal enablement on Zero Trust and federal best practices.
Qualifications
Required
10+ years of experience in cybersecurity across architecture, engineering, or consulting roles.
Demonstrated Zero Trust architecture expertise across multiple domains.
Proven ability to design and present architecture diagrams and executive‑ready visuals.
Foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts and security considerations.
Working knowledge of U.S. federal requirements and frameworks.
Experience with multi‑vendor integrations and interoperability patterns.
Ability to travel up to 25% for customer meetings and partner workshops.
Preferred
Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CEH, Security+).
Familiarity with AI tools, AI security frameworks, and model governance.
Experience in pre‑sales engineering or advisory consulting.
Remote or hybrid role; candidates near the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) preferred for occasional on‑site sessions at Tysons Corner, VA.
