Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and essential support to patients undergoing surgical orthopedic care. This full-time position on the P-shift offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by assisting licensed nurses in delivering high-quality patient care. General Summary Under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, or shift manager), the Assistant Patient Care Technician delivers direct patient care with a focus on safety and comfort. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes to nursing staff. Perform basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities. Work collaboratively with nursing personnel to meet patient needs promptly, enhancing patient safety and overall experience. Accurately document all patient care activities to support clinical decision-making by the healthcare team. Effectively communicate relevant patient information to appropriate team members to improve outcomes and quality of care.
Education High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience One year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Certification and Training Those without certification or with less than one year of experience must complete a specialized Patient Care Assistant training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided. Mental and Physical Requirements This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, stooping, and twisting. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
