Salary: $97,356 - $97,356

Reporting to the Director of Operations the Education Director is key to ensuring successful and high-quality early childhood education for all center-based classrooms, our home-based program, and within our family day care homes. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring full implementation of all aspects of her assigned site policies/procedures and tools, with the goal of supporting all children to achieve School Readiness Goals.
  • Direct supervision of Site Managers and an Early Learning and Inclusion Specialist, as well as coaching and mentoring of our Teaching Staff.
  • Facilitating monthly professional learning communities related to curriculum planning and assessment data.
  • Assisting education staff in implementing early learning curriculum with fidelity.
  • Applying expertise in on-going, performance-based assessment system to support the teachers in understanding child outcomes data and using results to plan and individualize instruction.
  • Tracking child outcomes and program quality assessment data across classrooms and analyzing data and making program development recommendations based on analysis.
  • Assisting education team in planning and implementing comprehensive, differentiated and sequential professional development for education staff.

Support for Educational Quality & Positive Child Outcomes includes:

  • Providing coaching and support for quality improvement and professional growth through regular observation and formal and informal feedback.
  • Providing feedback in all areas of educational quality, including but not limited to CLASS, Learning Environments, Curriculum Assessment, Meeting All Children's Needs, Working with Families, Professional Growth and Collaboration.
  • Providing guidance to support the needs of children with developmental, social emotional and behavioral concerns.
  • Working with teaching staff to create and maintain quality improvement plans; identifying and obtaining resources to support them in successfully executing quality improvement.
  • Supporting quality of implementation and use of assessment cycle during assessment workgroups.
  • Assisting all education staff in understanding child outcomes data and using results to plan and individualize instruction.
  • Tracking child outcomes and program quality assessment results on a center- and program-wide basis, analyzing data and making program development recommendations to Chief Operating Officer.
  • Planning and implementing comprehensive, differentiated and sequential professional development.
  • Assisting in collaboration and coordination within education team and across service areas (Family Services, Mental Health and Health, Nutrition) and initiative.
  • Conducting and leading the interviewing and on-boarding of teaching staff as needed.

Communication and Service Coordination includes:

  • Participating in team and 1-1 meetings, regularly scheduled and as needed, to ensure coordination of education services across the Head Start program.
  • Communicating effectively in written or verbal format to groups of all sizes and individuals.
  • Actively participating in the Head Start community, including staff meetings, mandated trainings, committee meetings, and other program-wide functions as needed, including some evening activities.

Record Keeping and Reporting includes:

  • Maintaining documentation of monitoring, coaching and training activities, adhering to Ft. George's existing systems (Master Binders, Shine Insight, etc.) whenever applicable.
  • Completing monthly reports on area activities and progress toward goals with recommended modifications to plans.

Human Resources includes:

  • Meeting with education team at least once per month to monitor, provide ongoing verbal and written feedback consistent with their individual development plans for performance improvement, ensure adherence to Head Start performance standards, and to plan and direct work.
  • Complying with the program employee recruitment and selection procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), legal hiring practices and internal policies and procedures.

Requirements include:

  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood and Permanent Certificate, B-2 N-6
  • Minimum of three years of experience supervising/coaching in an early childhood setting
  • Obtain and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, efficiently organize and communicate effectively
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal format to groups of all sizes and individuals

Desired Qualifications include:

  • Prior Head Start experience
  • Experience with Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold assessment system
  • Reliability in CLASS and ECERS-R

This position earns up to $97,356.00 annually.
