The American Birding Association is the only major nonprofit in North America dedicated explicitly to the pursuit of birding. The ABA believes birding is healthy, fun, and an ideal way to connect with the natural world. ABOUT THE POSITION
The Development Manager (DM) is responsible for the identification and qualification of major and planned gift prospects and assists in cultivating and soliciting donors through communications, meetings, trips, events, and other activities. The DM leads the development of an annual fundraising plan and is the main staff liaison to the Board’s fundraising committee. The DM will work on a variety of activities including providing detailed program information to prospects and drafting personalized correspondence and acknowledgments. They use the ABA’s donor database to update donor information, produce reports, perform analysis, and track and cultivate donors. The DM understands the basics of the influencing factors on donors and the types of assets that may be used for the donor’s giving and applies that knowledge to interactions with donors and gift asks. This position reports to the Executive Director. This will be a remote full-time employee position. Occasional travel to events will be required as well as flexible working hours as needed.
