Job Title Substation Team Lead Engineer
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Substation Team Lead Engineer with hands‑on experience in substation design, construction, and maintenance, ideally with a background at Georgia Power or a similar utility. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, lead project execution, and support cross‑functional teams to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electric substations. This position is a contract to hire.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate substation engineering projects from conception through completion, including design, planning, and construction support.
Apply knowledge of Georgia Power substation standards, design practices, and operational protocols to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Collaborate with protection, control, civil, and transmission teams to develop solutions that meet project requirements.
Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and contractor submittals.
Provide technical guidance to field teams during substation construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
Conduct site inspections and support troubleshooting of substation equipment and systems.
Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Mentor junior engineers and serve as a subject matter expert within the substation team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in substation engineering, with at least 2 years at Georgia Power or supporting Georgia Power.
Strong knowledge of substation design, relay protection, SCADA systems, and utility construction practices.
Proficient in engineering software and tools used for substation design and analysis.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
