Theatre Staff Nurse Department: Operating Theatre (General, Orthopaedic, Neuro) Job Type: Permanent Location: West Dublin- Private Hospital Salary: €45,000 - €57,000 per year Role Overview The Theatre Staff Nurse provides specialist nursing care within the operating theatre, supporting surgical procedures as a scrub nurse. You will ensure safe, efficient surgical care while maintaining high clinical standards and patient safety. Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Assist in surgical procedures as a scrub nurse Prepare theatre, instruments, and equipment for surgery Support surgeons during operations Maintain a sterile environment at all times Patient Care Provide care before, during, and after surgery Support patients and families with reassurance and information Ensure patient dignity, safety, and comfort Medication & Safety Administer medications safely Maintain controlled drug records Follow all safety guidelines and protocols (NMBI, hospital policies) Teamwork & Operations Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff Supervise and support junior staff Maintain accurate patient documentation (e.g. electronic systems) Take charge of the unit when required Quality & Compliance Report incidents, risks, or near misses Participate in audits and service improvements Follow best practice and clinical standards Requirements Essential Registered General Nurse (NMBI) Minimum 2 years acute hospital experience At least 1 year theatre/scrub experience Skills Strong surgical and clinical skills Good teamwork and communication Leadership ability Attention to detail and organisation IT and documentation skills Benefits Pension scheme Training and career development Progression opportunities (e.g. CNM roles) Employee assistance programme On-site facilities / subsidised meals Skills: Experienced general nurse caring general nurse supportive general nurse NMBI registered nurse
