THE POSITION

The General Government IT Delivery Center is searching for a highly motivated Database Administrator 2 to join the Solutions Management Division. This position is involved in database design processes and responsible for making decisions related to all aspects of administering database environments for the client agency applications within the General Government IT Delivery Center. As a Database Administrator 2, you will lead the design, implementation, and management of complex database systems supporting web-based applications for Commonwealth agencies. Work involves developing and reviewing data models, ensuring efficient and secure database structures, and leveraging Microsoft SQL Server to deliver reliable data solutions. You will be responsible for overseeing data population and migration activities, including writing and reviewing scripts, managing data integration across systems, and resolving complex data issues. You will also have the opportunity to provide technical guidance to users and IT staff, establishing database standards, and supporting development through stored procedures and SQL programming. Maintaining database security, monitoring, and optimizing performance Ensuring robust backup and recovery processes Supporting database infrastructure by configuring servers, planning capacity, and implementing high availability and replication strategies Coordinating and overseeing contracted database work Ensuring deliverables meet quality standards, timelines, and organizational priorities WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, with a requirement to report in‑office at minimum two days per week Salary: Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases QUALIFICATIONS
One year as a Database Administrator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) or Six years of information technology experience that includes three years in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration or Four years of information technology experience that includes three years in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field or Two years of information technology experience in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
