Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within an educational setting. This role supports effective communication between hearing-impaired students and educational staff through remote interpreting, ensuring accessibility and inclusion.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing accurate and timely sign language interpretation during virtual classroom sessions and school-related telehealth appointments.
• Collaborating with educators and healthcare professionals to facilitate clear communication tailored to the needs of students.
• Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
• Adhering to applicable code of ethics and standards for sign language interpretation.
• Utilizing telecommunication technology efficiently to deliver remote interpreting services.

Qualifications and experience preferred:

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (NIC, RID, or equivalent).
• Proven experience interpreting in educational or telehealth environments.
• Strong knowledge of deaf culture and linguistics.
• Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote communication tools.
• Ability to work independently under a 1099 contract agreement.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
