This position would switch between our two locations, Cascade Hospital for Animals & Breton Village Animal Clinic.
*What we are looking for:*
* A current Licensed (or Registered) Veterinary Technician in Michigan
* Previous experience in a clinical veterinary setting (preferred)
* Proficiency in medical software and record-keeping

*As an LVT in this role, you would: *
* Assist our doctors in medical, surgical and dental procedures (including cleaning & polishing, charting, and radiographs; prepping patients for surgery; monitoring patients during surgery and recovery; calculating and administering anesthetic doses; monitor patients during surgery and recovery; administering fluids, etc.)
* Complete patient SOAP notes; entering and verifying charges in the computer
* Perform emergency procedures such as control of bleeding, resuscitation with oxygen, and external cardiac massage
* Perform clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis, and fungal cultures; draw blood for laboratory analysis; ensure that test results are recorded in patient file
* Counsel clients on animal care; explaining dosage/purpose of medications; make follow-up calls to clients and properly document client communications in the patient file
* Fill prescriptions as instructed by doctor, understanding usage and dosage for all prescription drugs (including heartworm preventative and prescription flea control products)
* Clean and maintain surgical, dental and anesthetic equipment
* Keep the surgery and dental rooms stocked and prepared for procedures
* Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas
* Maintain an appropriate inventory of all drugs and medical supplies
* Place IV catheters
* Assist in ultrasound and endoscopy procedures
* Administer injections and oral medications
* Assist in restraining pet patients when needed
* Take radiographs and perform ECG
* Admit and discharge patients
